Zero cancellations across all airlines in Kolkata while over 275 IndiGo flights cancelled nationwide

Travelers across India breathed a small sigh of relief at Kolkata's Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose Airport today where not a single flight was cancelled amid the ongoing IndiGo crisis now stretching into its eighth day. But the calm there stood in stark contrast with over 275 flights cancelled nationwide. Bengaluru's Kempe Gowda International Airport reeling with maximum with a whopping 121 cancellations – 58 arrivals and 63 departures – the highest in the country today.

This wave of disruptions, triggered by new flight duty time rules that caught the airline short on crew, has left thousands stranded, refunds piling up to over Rs 827 crores, and passengers venting their frustrations. Hyderabad wasn't far behind, logging 58 cancellations today mostly on departures (44), while Chennai saw 41 flights grounded with a near-even split between arrivals and takeoffs. Mumbai tallied 31 affected services, and Ahmedabad had 16, showing the ripple effects hitting major hubs hard. Smaller spots like Thiruvananthapuram managed just four cancellations, but even Goa joined the tally with seven flights scrapped as per the airport advisory.

IndiGo, India's biggest carrier, has scrambled to apologize, form a crisis team, and promise normalcy by December 10, but the government isn't waiting – it's slapping on inspections, potential slot cuts, and even a parliamentary probe. This mess highlights deeper woes in India's skies: skimpy crew planning, stricter rest rules, and a rush of holiday travel clashing head-on. While Kolkata dodged this, the rest of the nation grapples with delays, lost bags, and dashed plans, urging flyers to check apps twice and brace for more bumps until the skies clear.
